Chongqing-With the opening of the Zhengzhou-Chongqing high-speed railway in June this year, the visibility and influence of Wushan County in Chongqing, a core area in the Yangtze River Three Gorges,  have enhanced. Wushan received 11,494,700 visitors and a comprehensive tourism income of 4.928 billion yuan in the first half of this year.

On July 28, 2021, Chongqing's Wulipo National Nature Reserve was listed as a world natural heritage site at the 44th session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO, raising the total number of world natural heritage sites in Chongqing to three. According to Fu Jiakang, the mayor of Wushan County, over the past year, Wushan has adhered to the conception of ecological priority and green development and kept the idea that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" in mind, thus increasing the gross ecosystem product.

"We have discovered three new animal species and more than 30 newly recorded species. Up to now, the conservation area has discovered 3,001 species of tracheophytes and 447 species of terrestrial vertebrates, including 159 species of national first-class and second-class protected plants and animals, making it rare as a natural gene bank, a natural laboratory, and a living nature museum in southwest China." Fu said.

To protect Wulipo, Wushan has established the Wulipo National Nature Conservation Area Biodiversity Science Centre and Science Popularization Base, displaying 158 specimens of geological features, wild animals, and plants. In particular, the science museum on the edge of Daning Lake used the new virtual reality technology to display biodiversity. The museum will become a 4A-level scenic spot in the future.

Wushan has reasonably developed the tourism value of Wulipo, which has effectively promoted tourism development in the county and enabled local people to get benefits through tourism.

With the target of creating a world-class tourist destination in the future, Wushan will provide tourists with an all-season, all-weather, all-time tourist holiday experience. Taking advantage of the more than 1,500 hours of sunshine each year, Wushan will speed up the construction of a modern national demonstration area for high-efficiency farming with mountain characteristics. At the same time, Wushan will build a commercial logistics distribution center in the junction area of Chongqing, Hubei, and Shaanxi and build a green industry system with the Yangtze River Three Gorges' clean energy base as the core.
