Chongqing-  A screen shows real-time data, allowing the whole process to be visualized, and the functions of supply, storage, and transportation are highly integrated, while the orders and numbers of products are decided by Intelligent Decision System (IDS) in a workshop.

Such things have become increasingly common in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality manufacturing enterprises. 

In recent years, Chongqing has been committed to developing intelligent industry, manufacturing, and application through its innovation-driven development strategy based on data intelligence. Chongqing has grown into a smart city with intelligent agriculture, trade, and transportation.

734 digital workshops and 127 intelligent factories 

Take Landai Powertrain Co., Ltd., located in Bishan County, as an example. In the digital workshop of the enterprise, busy robots and fast-rotating automation equipment keep running all the time.

Once the factory receives the order from the sales department, it only needs to automatically input the system to generate the production order. Then the workers can then enter the work number in front of the corresponding operation desk to supervise the production. 

"This is our product information management system, which controls all of our equipment and processes hundreds of thousands of calculations," said a company representative. Through intelligent transformation, both the quality and quantity of the products can be ensured.

As evidenced by Landai Powertrain's transformation, Chongqing is developing a high-speed, high-quality, intelligent industrial economy.

Empowered by Artificial Intelligence (AI), Chongqing has promoted the transformation of the industrial economy and improved the industry's quality, forming an ecosystem that integrates intelligent manufacturing, industrial Internet of things (IoT), and 5G.

So far, nearly 4700 intelligent transformation projects have been implemented in Chongqing, and 734 digital workshops and 127 intelligent factories have been built, with the production efficiency of its pilot project hitting 58.9%.

Famous brand dealers settled in Chongqing

Relying on scientific and technological innovation, Chongqing's whole industrial chain continues to make advances with fruitful results, including chips, screens, machines, core industries, and the Internet, said the Chongqing Economic and Information Technology Commission. 

For instance, Chongqing has developed an integrated circuit (IC) chip industrial chain, including microchip design, production, probing, and provision of materials. As a strategic city in terms of IC productivity, the city boasts the leading position in semiconductor wafer production in China.

Moreover, Chongqing has also built an integrated industrial chain of substrate glass, display panels, and liquid crystal display (LCD), with display panel production ranking 10th in China. Chongqing has a batch of famous brand dealers, complete machines, and supporting enterprises, making it a significant production base for the global intelligent terminals.

By the end of last year, the city's microcomputer and cell phone production exceeded 100 million units, accounting for 22.1% and 6.7% of the national proportion, respectively.

Chongqing is developing its core industries steadily, including sectors of the new energy vehicle, automotive electronics, and instrumentation.

Efforts have also been made to build the demonstration zone for integrated development of industrial Internet in Chengdu and Chongqing, a national industrial Internet new industrialization demonstration base, where the industrial ecosystem has been improved significantly.
