Chongqing- Having recently established the Western (Chongqing) Science City Intelligent Connected Vehicle Innovation Center, Chongqing plans to create an intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) demonstration area worth over ten billion dollars.
The center listed Li Keqiang Workstation, forming an innovative team of academicians, industry experts, and entrepreneurs with cutting-edge technical capabilities and application experience.
Li Keqiang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, is also responsible for the State Key Laboratory of Automotive Safety and Energy and the National Intelligent Connected Vehicle Innovation Center. Li’s team will focus on critical components and technologies, ICV evaluation, and others to build billions of intelligent connected vehicle industry clusters within five years, forming a new highland for China’s smart-related automobile industry.
Li has put forward the Chinese solution of ICV, “ICV with the integration of vehicle, road, and cloud is a new development path to break through the bottleneck of vehicle intelligence, and it is a Chinese solution for developing ICV.”
According to the Chinese solution, a blueprint for ICV must incorporate the characteristics and advantages of computers, communication, the Internet, and other fields.
At the Smart China Expo 2022, the Chongqing government signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Banma. In the future, The Center will cooperate with Banma to promote the Chinese solution for ICVs.
Banma offers intelligent automobile operating systems, intelligent automobile solutions, and digital transportation solutions for automakers and the entire transportation industry. With the technological and ecological advantages of Alibaba Group, it fully integrates voice, vision, chips, IoT, cloud computing, maps, payment, and e-commerce applications.
According to an official from the center, the collaboration with Banma will provide Chongqing’s vehicle, road, and collaborative cloud systems with solid data support. It will achieve the “integration of data and reality in industrial upgrading.”
Western (Chongqing) Science City was the first to introduce the Chinese solution. Chongqing will build a world-class cluster of intelligent connected new energy vehicles, establishing the center as an ecological demonstration area for the automobile operating system.
As a pilot zone of ICV policy in Chongqing, Western (Chongqing) Science City has built a whole industrial ecological system of “car, road, cloud, network, and map.”
Western (Chongqing) Science City has introduced more than 40 ICV-related enterprises, such as Changan Crossing and Shineray, covering automobiles, key parts, and other industries. Projects like Jinkang power electric drive system phase II and Datang Gaohong Zhilian are accelerating the construction.
Also, supporting platforms like the National Quality Inspection and Testing Center of Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Chongqing) and the Chongqing Automotive Software Innovation Research Platform of the Chinese Academy of Sciences are gathered at the Science City.
Digital upgrading covers the whole industrial chain. Enterprises such as Quanta and Inventec have built 11 intelligent factories and 32 digital workshops.
The center is expected to export key technologies and public services to the national ICV industry.
