Chongqing- Chongqing, located in Southwest China, held its 2021 Outstanding Entrepreneurs Commendation Meeting and 2022 Top 100 Enterprises Press Conference on September 26. A total of 100 enterprises are included in the list, including one in the primary industry, 58 in the secondary industry, and 41 in the tertiary industry. With 57 state-owned enterprises and 43 private enterprises working together to promote economic growth, a new trend is emerging.

Key enterprises of each pillar industry are listed

According to the Chongqing Municipal Enterprise Federation, the list of Top 100 Enterprises in Chongqing in 2022 is generated through the voluntary application of these companies. The only factor used to determine its final ranking is its income. A comprehensive list of the key companies in Chongqing's pillar industries was provided, including automobiles, motorcycles, electronics, equipment, medicine, materials, consumer goods, and energy.

Moreover, the list shows that the selected enterprises continue to grow stronger, larger, and better, becoming one of the driving forces to promote the high-quality development of Chongqing's economy.

Statistics show that the top 100 companies generated 2.56 trillion yuan (about 0.36 trillion U.S. dollars) in revenue, up 11.3% from last year. Meanwhile, the total assets reached 6.36 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.7%. The companies provided 846,300 jobs, including 7,600 new ones.  

Diversified development of top 100 companies

With a regional gross domestic product (GDP) of 2.79 trillion yuan, Chongqing experienced significant economic and social development last year. Imports and exports of foreign trade exceeded 800 billion yuan, and overseas assets had reached nearly 20 billion U.S. dollars. 

This year's list of Chongqing's Top 100 Enterprises, resilience, innovation, and diversity describes the themes in many firms' development, reflecting the high quality of Chongqing's economic growth.

One of the top 100 enterprises, Chongqing Brewery Co., Ltd., achieved new levels of development resilience by performing better than the industry level for two consecutive years after completing the major asset restructuring with Carlsberg in 2020.

In the first half of this year, the company achieved beer sales of 1,648,400 kiloliters, an increase of 6.36% yearly.

Through diversifying their business, various top 100 enterprises have increased their business scale. Chongqing Mexin (Group) Co., Ltd. is one example of a company involved in the door industry, cultural tourism, health care, commercial real estate, and international trade.

Chongqing Mexin (Group) Co., Ltd. has supported many domestic and foreign major construction projects with its door products, such as Xiong'an New District, Beijing Winter Olympics, African Union Building, Qatar World Cup Stadium, etc.
