Chongqing - The ninth Chongqing Youth Film Festival opened through online screenings and offline events. Its online screening was on the mobile cinema app on Nov. 11 to 20.
The online screening incorporates 19 shortlisted films, three short films from the "International Communication Program," and some new movies that have attracted moviegoers worldwide, such as Imperfect Love, Walkie Talkie, and 28TH. Many films are screened to the audience online for the first time.

"We aim to provide a platform for filmmakers of all ages and backgrounds. Online screening, different from offline events, can attract audiences from a wider variety of locations and encourage them to participate in the viewing experience. The majority of films are available online for two weeks, allowing viewers to enjoy these new masterpieces from anywhere, at any time, according to their interests and time," said the chairman of the online screening committee.
The festival aims to create a bridge of collaboration for more young creators to exchange resources and inspire filmmakers to express themselves more fully. It is hoped that the audience can experience how young filmmakers use diverse forms and themes to show insight and reflection on the world through these online films.
There were 1,332 films registered for the competition section this year, and after the selection and approval of the organizing committee, a total of 29 shortlisted films will compete for the competition honors. Among them, five were chosen as finalists for the feature film competition, 16 for the primary shortlisted film competition, three for the International Communication Program shortlisted film competition, and five for the Support Local Project shortlisted film competition.
Currently, the Chongqing Youth Film Festival has screened more than 900 domestic and foreign films and organized more than 600 offline events with over 200,000 participants. It is one of the largest and most influential comprehensive and professional film festivals in Western China. It promotes young filmmakers' growth and contributes to local film's sustainable development.
