Chongqing - A fond memory of childhood was the long summer afternoons picking strawberries amongst the rolling English countryside. We'd excitedly take our baskets for weighing by the farmhouse, then enjoy them over local clotted ice-cream with friends and family. It was tough to find anything more idyllic. Fast forward a couple of years or more, and I find the tradition also exists in Chongqing. Once the warmth of spring sunshine breaks through the winter months, local Chinese families take advantage of weekends and seasonal holidays to partake in this same activity. Overall, there's a surprisingly good choice of picking your own farms in and around Chongqing.
So our destination is Meihao Shiguang Ecology Strawberry Farm, tucked away upon Geleshan, which accosts the western flank of Chongqing, as Nanshan does the east. I called in advance to make sure they're open following the outbreak, and just as importantly, there were still strawberries left to pick!
So join me in this latest installment as we explore the delights of springtime in Chongqing!
