Chongqing- Chongqing has witnessed the birth and growth of the Smart China Expo (SCE), and the SCE has also seen rapid development and changes in Chongqing. The SCE this year will take place from August 22 to 24, serving as Chongqing's most prominent, high-profile international event.

"Every SCE has new achievements and applications, which have become a highly anticipated business card of Chongqing," said Mo Yuanming, a Chongqing Technology and Business University researcher.

In the first SCE, 160 robots danced together to warm up for the opening ceremony, making guests feel the future of intelligent technology has arrived. In contrast, at the second SCE, venues and outdoor areas were covered in 5G networks. With the third SCE, a unique Cloud Appointment, guests worldwide were able to communicate through screens and break through the epidemic blockade. There were many "black technologies" presented at the 4th SCE, such as a 10-minute car-making process and a variety of robots.

Its highlights for this year are to grasp the new trend of innovative city development, establish a unique platform for exchange, and summarize the latest achievements in the construction of digital Chongqing.

The digital economy empowers smart scenarios

Chongqing has held the Smart China Expo for four consecutive years, which has yielded fruitful results.

Chongqing has gained considerable international influence due to the Smart China Expo. By facilitating many investment projects in the latest technologies and applications, it has actively met the needs of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and countries along the Belt and Road.

Chongqing's intelligent manufacturing transformation and industrial quality improvement remain positive. The city has implemented more than 4,700 intelligent transformation projects and built 734 digital workshops and 127 smart factories.

As another example, Chongqing was approved to build the Chengdu-Chongqing hub, a national hub node for an integrated computing power network. More than 110,000 Chongqing enterprises are in the cloud.

Furthermore, the industrial Internet identity resolution national top nodes (Chongqing) connect nine provinces and cities in western China, 32 secondary nodes, and 2,757 enterprise nodes, which have accumulated 12 billion identity resolutions and over 7 billion identity parsing. More and more emerging industries are entering the fast lane of the digital economy.

Chongqing took the lead in publishing the Smart Community Evaluation Standards, building 11 smart communities, and initially realizing the overall management of the urban operation.

Smart application scenarios in Chongqing are constantly enriched. Currently, the data center cluster has a support capacity of 90,000 racks and 450,000 servers, and a cloud platform of digital Chongqing has been built, whose current access rate to Government Cloud is 100%, ranking first in the country.

 "Super smart city" is the future trend

A few days ago, Deloitte China released the report Building Super Smart Sustainable Cities at the China International Consumer Products Expo, which states that the international investment in smart cities in 2020 reached 114.4 billion U.S. dollars. Its growth rate is hopeful of picking up in 2023, and the growth rate of medium and long-term investment will remain around 15%. The "Super smart city" represents the urban development trend in the future.

One change in global consumption trends in the post-epidemic era is the significant increase in the correlation between digitalization and life, according to Shi Nengzi, Vice Chairman of Deloitte China.

Mo believes that smart city construction has great potential. To reshape the city's future, Chongqing needs to stand at the height of the western region, the whole country, and even the world, delivering strategically, functionally, and economically on all fronts. At the same time, Mo said, it is necessary to take advantage of Chongqing's pilot opportunities as an international consumption center city, a national pilot city for entrepreneurship, and a smart city by expanding the service industry's opening-up.
