Chongqing- From January to November, the investment in major municipal projects in Southwest China's Chongqing reached 371.1 billion yuan (about 53.29 billion U.S. dollars), accounting for 99.6% of the annual plan, finds the report.

With 532 major projects planned, the 14th Five-year Plan (2021-2025) in Chongqing covers eight sectors, including technological innovation, infrastructure, modern industry, and urban upgrading. 

Up to now, 272 important construction projects have been started with an investment of over 580 billion yuan, while 31 projects have been completed and put into use.

The Zhengzhou-Chongqing Highspeed Railway is one of the significant projects this year, which was implemented on June 20.

With this railway, the Central Plains Urban Agglomeration can better connect with the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, thereby enhancing regional economies. It takes 6 hours and 46 minutes from Beijing to Chongqing, while it takes 4 hours and 23 minutes from Zhengzhou to Chongqing.

This year, the National Development and Reform Commission released 102 major projects for the 14th Five-year Plan, including 55 infrastructure construction ones and 25 related to the "dual carbon goals." 

Among them, the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. (China Railway) has promoted construction projects in an orderly manner. For instance, construction has begun on the Chengdu-Chongqing Middle Line High-speed Railway, and demonstration projects of China Railway Express assembly centers in several places, including Chongqing. 

A total of eight projects in Chongqing included in the National 14th Five-year Plan are Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport T3B terminal and the fourth runway, and the Sichuan-Chongqing natural gas production base with a capacity of 100 billion yuan.

From the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle to the New International Land-sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC), Chongqing will enhance the key role of investment in optimizing the supply structure while promoting significant projects' construction.
